Sarah Buscaino was born and raised in Long Island, New York. She began her dance training at the American Theater Dance Workshop under the direction of Madeline Dempster. There, she cultivated her love for dance and theatre with the opportunity to work with amazing industry professionals such as Jerome Vivona, Mary Macleod, Stephen Reed, Robert Bianca, and Bill Hastings.
She then went on to study at Marymount Manhattan College ultimately graduating magna cum laude with a B.F.A. in Dance. While at Marymount she had the opportunity to perform works by Abdhur Rahim Jackson, Alwin Nikolais, Pam Tanowitz, Alessandra Prosperi, Edgar Zendejas, William Soleau, Erick Hawkins, Deganit Shemy, and Jessica Lang. As you may notice, a clearly very modern dance driven college experience. If you ask Sarah, she will tell you she is not sure how she went down the traditional modern dance road, and her parents will swear that they tried to tell her she should study musical theatre!
After graduation, Sarah had a successful career dancing with modern dance companies throughout New York City. But eventually realized she wanted to make the switch. With a big push of support from friends and family, she finally landed her first musical theatre gig with the always amazing Richard Stafford. Along the way she enjoyed experiences with The Verdon Fosse Legacy, and opportunities to work with Andy Blankenbuehler in the studio on Annie and ONLY GOLD.
Sarah has now been a professional in the musical theatre industry for a little over three years and has done it all from dancing in the ensemble, to dance captain, and most recently, associate choreographer. She continues to strive toward the ultimate of a Broadway stage. Follow her journey as she works towards a Broadway Debut one day!
